Mario Lemieux was a regular for the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he played from 1984 right up until 2006, and is considered by many to be among the best hockey players of his generation. He led his team to a number of Stanley Cup wins over the years, both as a member of his team, as well as the owner of the team after his retirement. He is known for a great many memorable moments, but perhaps the most well known is from his game against the New Jersey Devils in 1988. He had a career that lasted over 20 different seasons, and four completely different NHL clubs. He currently holds the record as being the top scorer of all time, and has more combined goals than other player in history, along with the most assists of any player.
He also holds the record for scoring more than 200 points in a single season, and while that’s impressive enough, what’s more impressive is that he did it four times in total. His most memorable achievement is when he scored 50 goals in a total of 39 games, which solidified his fame in the world of ice hockey.
Darryl Sittler’s Ten Points
Darryl Sittler is not quite as well known as the other entries on this list, but there’s no doubting that he was almost as skilled as many of his more famous counterparts. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1970s, and earned fame for totalling 10 points in a single game, which is virtually unheard of in the world of professional hockey.
The feat occurred in 1976 when his team was playing against the Boston Bruins, and it’s also the game that would go on to haunt goalie David Reece, who lost 11 goals during the game, 10 of which were attributed to Sittler and his incredible skill.
